Description
The AKAI/Roberts M-7 & M- 8 Series are excellent examples of Japan's classic tube gear from the 1950s/60s The electronics are A+ engineered ,and used very high quality components This is enough to seriously amp a very low output ribbon, .If you want to really hear what these vintage mics sound like you need to use a transformer into a tube preamp. This was the original intended design! On these units, there are inputs.#1" MIC IN" is Hi Z mic, great for harp mics, and A++ as direct in for Guitars & Bass, Mandos,....Awesome! #2,"LINE IN" Is Hi Z great for line in synth & keyboard levels, and hot cranked efx.#3,"LO Z (XLR in)- Any mic transformer plugged in to "Mic In" can make it Lo Z for pro studio mics. A vintage Mic transformer is included, and has been, re-wired and set for step up, for Lo Z pro mics....An ancient analog trick! Check out the scope waveforms. Input is 18mv (millivolts) ,that of a vintage ribbon mic.2nd pix shows perfect sine wave (no distortion) at line level,1.414 volts! 3rd pix shows intentionally clipped almost square wave giving all harmonic distortion you can dream up! So- the preamp sound has that beautiful "open" Tube Essence...with ball Z! The new "Black Diamond Midnight" (mfr's name!) Matching Case is also included .Note we pix other available goodies at our sites. At this one, you're bidding only on described item. The old microphone geek, and those "motley tube era old fashioned mics are not for sale at this time...."
