Description
Large format albumen photograph of the Union Hotel in Weaverville California. Photo is compliments of P M Paulsen, Proprietor. The image shows the two story hotel with numerous men, women and children out front. A few folks are seen on the second floor balcony. I find very little information on this hotel other than Paulsen was the owner c1905-06 when a huge fire devastated Weaverville. Paulsen had gone into partnership to purchase the Union Hotel in 1861, allowing for the steady income to support a family. Founded in 1850, Weaverville is a historic Gold Rush town. Undated but likely 1890s -1915. Unsure of how long this hotel remained open. The image is 7 ½” x 9 ½” and overall 10” x 12”. The image remains good with the exception of a small corner chip. The mount has foxing, light creases, and bumped corners. See images for details.
